The fact that Morrison thought of this relaionship as boring proves, that he never bothered to read something about it.
And Scotts relationship with Emma came out of the nowhere.
So, its no suprise that, many writes reduce the ScottXEmma pairing to "they have great sex".
Grant Morrison didn't help him out any either. And having him cheating on Jean with Emma was just silly. I am not nor ever have I been a fan of ScottXEmma. This is the woman who kidnapped the New Mutants and forced them into her Hellions program. Who willfully and gleefully assisted Sebastian Shaw in all his "rule the world through the power of capitalism" schemes. And now all of a sudden she's Scott's new soulmate?
But I look for the positive in Scott, because he's my favorite character. Is he being handled perfectly? No. There are things that I like, there are things that I dislike. I like his master planner tendencies. Thinking several steps ahead of the game and outside of the box to handle problems and save the day. Keiron Gillen has a very solid grasp on this, and has penned some very nice stories with Scott's ability to foresee problems and plan ways around them. I like him as a pragmatist. He knows that Xavier's dream is not going to do less than two hundred people any good, so he's dedicated to bringing mutantkind back from the brink. You read the letters to humanity that he writes included in the back of some issues of the current Uncanny X-Men run and you can see that Keiron gets it. Scott is dedicated to doing the right thing. To saving the world, not just for mutants but for everybody. But he will not be pushed around, and he will not let the few remaining mutants be pushed around either. I like that.
I dislike the tendency to portray him as "the next Magneto" though. AvX from the beginning has been a travesty, and one of the problems with it is that "next Magneto" portrayal. The problem there is that the "Marvel Architects" are primarily composed of guys like Bendis and Aaron and Fraction who are more than willing to sacrifice character accuracy in order to get a story from point A to point B.
But eventually, things will be back to "normal". Mutants will return to previous numbers, there will be no need for a Utopia, and Jean Grey will be alive again again. Again. (How many times has it been now?) And finally, we'll be able to see how the writers of the X-Men can handle the X-Men without the ridiculous constraints of "No More Mutants".
And we'll get to see Scott behaving more like he should.
In fact let's go by cases . You're aware of the whole " Cry baby Cyclops " misconception that used to exist , right ?
If one told me that about the cartoons Cyclops (TAS & EVO) , I'd laugh at their faces. If they talk about the Scott written by Claremont , I'd say bland yeah but he never whines & gets the job done . If you go with the Vaugh-Wheezie-LobNic Cyclops , not only I'd laugh but I'd say " Fuck you mac ! THAT guy was an awesome BADASS & still is ! That's what I think of when I think of Cyclops !"
If you talked about Morrison's or Whedon's ... I kindly shut up and admit that that person is right .
To me , Scott's last hurrah (by that I mean where the real deal has been shown ) as a protagonist was handled by BK Vaughn in the 4 issue mini. And he made a cameo in the last truly good x-men series ( it has 2 characters I deeply love sharing the spotlight... Come on ! You can't not guess who it is !)
And having him cheating on Jean with Emma was just silly.
If only you saw his explanation. It can kill puppies due to how cruelly dumb it was !

Back when she was a badass ! Even then Emma died earlier , in 2001 Generation X 75... not only was that issue excellent , but the ending was gut-wrenchringly tragic when you know how they'll be butchered later ...

When Cyclops does that , it saves innocent lives and his teammates ! When Dicklops does that , I tend to root for the villain team...I mean when you fire your friends, that are basically family because they "are no more mutants" or "mere humans" while they have fought with you side by side all those years, you're beyond redemption.add to that him slobbering all over Hellfire Club Barbie over his wife’s freshly dug grave was intentional ( & the most disgusting of his transgressions);no reaction to his Dad dying, his brother and (genetic) daughter lost in space, and barely flinching over what happens to his son’s death ( & He LET Nathan DIE. Is it any wonder I can't forgive this guy ? )
What happened to Jean, Bishop, Kurt , Dani ,Jubilee & Jono & the way they were tossed to the garbage can... well that was the last fucking straw .
As for Gillen I love his Sabretooth & his Sinister . I mean , that was fan-fucking-tastic !If Nathaniel kills Namor, that would only increase my already phenomenal love for Essex (yeah , Namor is an unlikable dickhead... I really don't get how Remy gets bashed while fish guy gets constantly praised in the elitistic blogs !)

Well he's basically already the next Charles Manson...only he needs now is a beard ! There's only one Marvel Architect sonny ... ME (and the thousands of good classic runs as well as first class that I read for more accuracy !)

2 times... I repeat 2 TIMES. One was with the DPS , so it was understandable (besides the Jean that reappeared in X-factor ius a far superior character to any phoenix BS. I spit on this Jean is ^phoenix bull ! PFAH ) and the 2nd ... we owe it to Morronson ! A lot right ? Wanna count Magneto's score in that regard ? He was the guy they stood in contrast to Wolverine to emphasize Logan's likable traits while de-emphasizing Scott's.
mmmhhh... not really . in fact it used to be a cock fight but by the late 80's the feud is squashed. Hell in the 90's , they pretty much worked well together & respected each other ... Boh... Anyway things should not be sad ! It's fiction & entertainment ! It is what it is & your take on the concept is what matters ....

This is why I am mixing the best of all worlds (like keeping the mutant town & Fantomex who was about the one worthwhile thing from Morrison ...), I mixed X-factor & district x in one same part , I changed the issues order of Cable & Deadpool to suit my opinion & as for Jean... I have to explain where did she go & how (clue: It does not have anything to do with the phoenix... It'll be one large sadistic game! & expect Maddie & Stryfe to make a big come back!). I have a role for Gambit in the next upcoming chapters of weapon end (love his big brother side whren trying to cheer up Laura as you know ), but don't worry In my canon, I left them the way they were in the last Gambit solo (together) just like Beast is not a cat & Colossus is dead (I have plans for some dead, oh yes...).
