TERMITE TERRACE 1933-1963 by devilkais TERMITE TERRACE 1933-1963 by devilkais
I want , fellow viewers or whoever I'll thank to take a look at my drawings, to celebrate the collective geniuses of the termite terrace little people who gave nothing more than a form of art on its own from 1933 to 1963 !
I think it's time some of these hardcore fans just embrace all of the directors as best as they can and stop the feuding over who's better or bitching how a character was ruined under a direction or another instead of seeing it as a valid aspect of what makes these characters so well-rounded ... Hell , the people who did them had fun doing so , so enough of your whining Internet , positivate for once !
Now I won't list all their best cartoons (because I did so already ) but their absolute best under each LT/MM series they've directed and their one-shots° as well .

To the directors :

Frederick Bean Avery :
- A wild Hare
- Daffy Duck in Hollywood
- Porky's preview
- I love to singa°
(of course I need a proper MGM / WB picture to honor the genius of Tex on his own, but I never rush this kind of thing ;) )

Robert Emmerson Clampett:
- Hare falling
- The Great Piggy Bank Robbery
- Porky in Wackyland
- A Gruesome twosome
- The bashful buzzard
- Eating on the cuff...°

Charles Martin Jones

- Rabbit of Seville
- Duck Amuck
- The Wearing of the grin
- Fast & Furry-ous
- A hound for trouble
- Little Beau Pepe
- Don't give up the sheep
- The Scaredy Cat
- Chow hound°

Isadore Freleng :

- Bugs Bunny rides again
- Yanke Doodle Daffy
- You oughta be in pictures
- I tawt I taw a putty tat
- A mouse divided
- Speedy Gonzales
- Rhapsody in Rivets°

Norman McCabe

- Daffy's southern exposure
- Robinson Crusoe Jr
- Who's who in the zoo
- The Ducktators°

Francis Fredrick von Taschlein :

- The Unruly hare
- Nasty quacks
- Wholly smoke
- You're an education°

Robert Porter McKimson :

- Easter Yeggs
- Birth of a notion
- Paying The piper
- Pop im pop
- Crowing pains
- A message for Gracias
- Turn Tale Wolf°

Arthur Davis :

- Bowery Bugs
- The Stupor Salesman
- Bye Bye Bluebeard
- Dough Ray me ow°

Haven't seen these yet ? Then what the hell are you waiting for ?! And let's pray that DC puts their Looney Tunes comics in Trade Paper backs For Hell sake ! It's one of the best treatment of the characters post classice era and it's way underrated (not to mention their only series I didn't leave in disgust ...)

That is all (for now ) folks !

I'm instantly transported back to the early and mid-nineties when Cartoon Network was airing actual cartoons and not badly drawn animations of kids who smeared their snot all over the place. I understood little English back then but I'm certain I've seen most of these LT cartoons a few times. My knowledge about its creators is next to nothing but I like your lil' collage here :)

Well I think I know those:

His Bitter Half (Freleng) Daffy learns that marriage for cash is the best way to crash !
Wise Quacks (Clampett) LTGC 5 Daffy perfects boozing
The Henpecked Duck (Clampett) this is the divorce one, not on disk yet
Stork Naked (Freleng) Daffy invents abortion

You re right here , ther s so much good stuff to fill at least 2 other golden collections, but they can be found on youtube

Considering the crap that's been done with the Looney Tunes these days (i.e. "Loonatics Unleashed" & "The Looney Tunes Show") people shouldn't be whining about ANY of the old cartoons or the style of the original directors. That's gold compared to this present-day crap.

Yeah , I tend to facepalm when I hear people prefering the Daffy from TLTS and calling the 50's one atrocious ... what unwitting fools .
But hey, the comics are definitely good !

WHAT FREAKIN' IDIOTS SAY THAT??!! How dare they call themselves Looney Tunes fans when they speak such blasphemy?! Nobody but freakin' tasteless idiots like the new "Looney Tunes Show". The characters are way off, the animation style looks like crap, and it can't even be remotely conceived as funny. The Boys from Termite Terrace must be turning over in their graves!

They turned Daffy into an idiot, Bugs into a prick, and they made Lola into a disgustingly irritating twit! And what the hell was up with them making Witch Hazel an old Southern Black lady? She sounds like Mammy Two-Shoes from the old Tom & Jerry cartoons. I tried actually watching a few episodes of that show, but when they turned Taz into a dog, That Was It!

I think the one genuinely good thing out of it was the Wizard clip , that to me was as close as they could get to the real essence of Daffy as a character .

But yeah , the Bugs /Daffy team up was done the wrong way because they simplified it to Bugs =clever / Daffy = stupid While the TRUE contrast is (especially in Jones's cartoons, since he and Maltese used the team up most effectively ) Daffy acts before he thinks while Bugs thinks before acting , Daffy can dish it AND Take it while Bugs can dish it but absolutely LOATHES taking it , and both are actually clever . At least as oblivious as he could be in the Duck Dodgers TV show , he could still grasp some concepts once explained or have rather dangerous (funny) moodswings and wonderfully sadistic moments (Dodgers wants a war NOW ! XD Besides that show had Coyote disguised as a predator and the scariest Elmer ever seen ... the FUDD ! that was brilliant ! And Alaskey did a better Daffy voice than Bergman ) . I think it came from the knuckleheads that keep saying how Jones ruined Daffy etc etc... I don't think they know who the duck is XD

She sounds like Mammy Two-Shoes from the old Tom & Jerry cartoons.

And I'd love to see Mammy Two-shoes back as Tom's owner ! I grew up with that lady , so no one can replace that (BTW I think her face was only shown once in the dark... we just know that she wore glasses :D )

I will agree. The Wizard clip from "The Looney Tunes Show" was pretty boss and did seem the most like Daffy that I saw in that whole horrid show, but the goodness stops there sadly.

One of my biggest problems with that show (aside of the crap with Lola and Taz which made me want to punch the execs at Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network square in the nuts) was indeed the grievous over-simplification of Bugs and Daffy's characters. Daffy is not and has never been an idiot. His wackiness and out-of-control ego create the appearance of idiocy, but in reality he's pretty clever and witty when it comes to getting what he wants, and I personally feel like Bugs hasn't really been living up to the full extent of his character since "Box Office Bunny" and certain parts of "Space Jam". Whatever happened to that (to quote Elmer) "wascally wabbit" we all fell in love with back with "A Wild Hare"? I miss when Bugs used to say things like, "Of course you know this means war!", and "Ain't I a stinker?", and "He don't know me very well, do he?" Hell, in that freakin' show they don't even have Bugs saying his trademark line, "What's Up, Doc?" How can you have a Bugs Bunny cartoon where Bugs doesn't say "What's Up, Doc?" >.<

I absolutely adored the 2003 Duck Dodgers series. In that show, it was actually alright that Daffy came across as an idiot, because Daffy always was pretty idiotic and clueless whenever he tried to played the hero. It was the comedy of the hero who could never save the day, or screwed up so bad until it would have been better if he hadn't. =D

In a way, they did bring back Mammy Two-Shoes for the "Tom & Jerry Tales" series, but I'm disgusted by how they did it. Tom's owner in that series is supposedly supposed to be a white-washed version of Mammy Two-Shoes. She has the same kind of Southern woman accent and is a housewife, but they made her a white lady to supposedly make her less "racially offensive". I'm Black, and I honestly have to say I find that even more offensive than if they kept her as she was! I personally never saw Mammy Two-Shoes as being racially offensive in the first place, and I scoff in the general direction of any member of the Black community that would be so short-sighted as to view her as offensive for no other reason than she was a Black character in a pre-Civil Rights cartoon. It's as stupid as that crap about Speedy Gonzales being offensive.

Making a black Mammy Two-Shoes again would be a good idea, and they could even get Roz Ryan to do her voice!

Oh trust me, this one took a lot of time took a lot of time !( between us I have fanarts that are a year old and that I'm not sure to post or not, mostly by insecurity ...) . Dude , do your own stuff , I'm hardly a reference (hell , coloring is painful..) and remember I only developped this style recently and after numerous experiments (and with the right amount of envy and discussion craving... guess that's my inner Daffy Duck that pushed me to do so XD ) , so anyone can actually do it with the right amount of patience .
