Batman -Kanon Mythos- by devilkais Batman -Kanon Mythos- by devilkais
Yeah, yeah it is a remake of this devilkais.deviantart.com/art/B… , and because of my unquenchable thirst for drawing my opinions rather than writing them (due to my partial laziness...)... also to make this little gallery a little more popular.

What can I say about Batman ? The Dark Knight, The Caped Crusader, The Taco Hater, , The World's Greatest Detective ? (Okay, I disagree about that one... Mickey is a superior detective , for he solves mysteries, has no gadgets, has to rely on his gaunted fists, speaks in a falsetto voice and stays poor in most of his stories...)

Needless to say, like a lot of people out there ,I love Batman and the mythos around him (And yes I also love Adam West's ! Seriously , have people no sense of humor Whatsoever these days ?).
In order to show what I love so much about it, I respected my only comics rule ( If you love it, keep it . If you hate it , slay it.)
True , it is not subtle or logical to do so, but I took every aspect I loved from the comics (mainly 80's,90's, early 00's )the DCAU and the video games, stuffed them all into 3 A4 papers and forcibly stapled them together...I'll think of a logical structure and chronology another day... or week... or year perhaps...

So Enjoy the columns, here are the different groups (in case you wonder who is who ...)

1 Commissioner James Gordon,Renee Montoya , Harvey Bullock , Oracle (Barbara Gordon), Huntress (Helena Bertinelli),Black Canary (Dinah Lance), Robin (Tim Drake), Spoiler (Stephanie Brown), Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), Nightwing (Dick Grayson) ,Alfred Pennyworth ( Your God almighty !)

2 The Bat-computer... a toy T-Rex... a giant card... rocks and bats...

3 Anarky (Lonnie Machin), Catwoman (Selina Kyle) , Harvey Dent (now repaired physically ...we don't guarantee for his mind however...) , Edward Nashton ( the "reformed" Riddler...), David Cain (good contender for worst dad ever), Talia AlGhul (If anyone asks, NOT pregnant in this Kanon...) , Ra's Al Ghul (you have no idea how this name is funny when you actually speak arabic...)

4 The Joker (will ,or needs to, eventually play his own version of Hungarian Rhapsody #2...), Some hyenas, some dolls, Bob (because Bob is just awesome ! That is why!) , Harley Quinn ( popularity boost , here I am ! Mwahahahaaaa !), Captain Clown, Killer Klowns from Outer space (because to people who love clowns , like yours truly, THEY ARE DEFACTO members of the Joker Troop !)

5 Professor Hugo Strange , The ScareCrow (Dr. Jonhathan Crane), Hush (Dr. Thomas Elliot), Mr Freeze (Dr. Victor Fries) , The Mad Hatter (Dr. Jervis Tetch) , Poison Ivy (Dr. Pamela Isley) , Man-Bat (Dr. Kirk Langstrom )

6 The Penguin (Oswald Cobblepot), The Ventriloquist (errr... I don't know, I like both ! You vote !) , Catman (S6 version of Thomas Blake) , Deadshot (Floyd Lawton or Lord Pornstache ...) , Killer Croc (Waylon Jones), Charaxes ( Drury Walker... yes ! Because charaxeses are really cute and fluffy !) , Solomon Grundy ( Cyrus Gold), Bane (S6 version), Clayface (Basil Karlo and the rest of the fucking Mudpack ! Couldn't they pick one and stick to it ?)

And before concluding , my quick opinion on the Batman movies I watched :

Batman (1989) : AWESOME ! Never got tired of it , basically a comic book come to life !

Batman Returns (1992): Great stuff ! Also has the best score in all of them...

Mask of the Phantasm (1993): My favorite of the entire bunch !

Batman Forever (1995): worth it if you watch it in RiffTrax ...

Batman & Robin (1997): You want ONE redeeming factor ? There you go www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pNY2K…

SubZero (1998) : Basically WB's apology for Schumacher... Watch it !

Return of the Joker (2000) : Thumbs up !

Patient J (2005) : If you haven't watched it, what the hell are you waiting for ?

The Nolan Trilogy : Here devilkais.deviantart.com/art/T…

Well to properly end this, I'll have to salute Supporting characters and antagonist that bit the dust in this Kanon or did not appear due to lack of space...

IN MEMORIUM

Thomas & Martha Wayne (Well duh...)

Jason Todd (kid, you're seen as the dark horse of Robins... while you were a really likable kid...R.I.P....)

Roman Sionis (At the end his battle against Catwoman, Black Mask falls from the top of the building right into the sewer ... but because he's no Wile E Coyote, it did not end well. Look I like the guy fine, but on the other hand, this means War Games and all the crap that follows is null and void ! Hurraaay !)

Sarah Essen-Gordon (...the scene speaks for itself...)

Jean-Paul Valley ( drowned in a river...)

Now that was fun, any question ?

What a great tribute this is, I really love the way you portrayed Hugo Strange, the way you showed the first time Batman and the Joker met and some story references like The Long Halloween

By the way, you mention that Jason Todd was likeable, is this a reference to the Mike Barr and Alan Davis run?

In general, Jason gets way too much shit. And I say this as someone whose favorite Robin is Tim. I have always heard that he was unsufferable and horrible etc. Then I read the actual appearances ... Wow, people must have been drunk or high because he is a pretty decent dude all around. Yes he's hot-headed but at least that separates him from Dick and Tim. My favorite Jason is that of Collins's actually, though in general , he's far better than what people let on. Comics fans unfortunately love to spout some dumb generalizations and a lot of them are bullcrap.

Yeah, another appearance that I liked was in "Superman:for the man who has everything"
reminds me how a lot of people (even comic book writers) keep saying that Aquaman is useless, even though he has proven again and again how badass and competent he can be (though I don't like when is characterized to much like Namor).

Yeah, the guy who can influence a good chunk of the sea life is useless... Go Figure. See, shit like this is why I stuck to some particular runs.... The ones that actually contain character growth.
But Aquaman is not the only one who suffers said ignorance . Most characters here are subject to it devilkais.deviantart.com/art/L…

Now if you like Batman , I have something else devilkais.deviantart.com/art/B…

I would love to see a Justice League poster, or perhaps an Avengers one. Although my personal preference is Teen Titans

I will have to work on that . Though to be fair the Avengers will be mostly based on the Busiek interpretation !

How many versions of Batman are on here? I see the comics, the Burton films, and the Nolan films.

It is more of a mish mash really. There's barely anything from Nolan though ... But the Arkham games are here indeed !

Allthe epic of Batman in once picture.
Great style, reminds me of Tim Burton, when he still made good movies.

Well it is a reference to the Arkham Video games series , since they basically contain everything I love about Batman...

Damian seems like a better match for Apothesis than Arkham Asylum

Still, really cool.

I deny the existence of that little pubic crab, plain and simple . The only time I'll ever draw him is here devilkais.deviantart.com/art/A… .. Due to my considerable loathing to that run, I included the Arkham Asylum Video games which contain everything I love about the Batman. In fact I generally ignore any storyline post-Hush...

Awesome!

I'd like to see your thoughts on the histories of other DC characters, like Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Wonder Woman.

First off... I really like these guys, here is a quick one

- Superman : I need to reread my favorite Supes tales in order to make a poster, still feasible ! Bear in mind that I despise the whole Superman as God allegory... Clark is really a dude who happens to be an alien, simple as that ! And I recommend "Superman VS the Elite "

- Green Lantern : I won't lie... I prefer Parallax Hal. I am more a fan of Guy, Kyle and John...

- Flash : ... Well the most likely to get his poster (but I have 2 prior to that one ) devilkais.deviantart.com/art/T…

- Wonder Woman : Love Diana, but damn does she have horrible luck !

Ah, I see.

What are your favorite Supes tales? I personally enjoyed John Byrne's Man of Steel, the Death/World Without/Return of Superman trilogy, and the Geoff Johns story Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes.

I'll have to give that DVD a looksee.

As for GL, I'll be honest with you. The return of Hal Jordan got me into Green Lantern comics.

I do agree with you about Diana. She gets the worst luck. She's constantly being rebooted and redefined. I think many writers don't really know what to do with her.

Well, the ones that come to mind are basically the trilogy you've mentionned, the Joe Casey's version of Mxyzptlk (I NEED to draw that ! I love Mxy for various reasons...), some John Byrne issues (though his Big Barda story was absolute BULLSHIT !), some of Dan Jurgens and Louise Simonson. But  I need more time to do the man with the worst disguise ever proper justice.

I did dig those GL comics, but after a long look at the background.. only Sinestro and Henshaw were actually needed to be back ! Sinestro corps war could have perfectly worked with Kyle, John and Guy(in warrior gear ) as the main protagonists ...

She reminds of another character XD

I'll have to look up Joe Casey's take on Mxy, then. I've also gotten to read Steve Gerber's 1980s Phantom Zone mini-series. Awesome stuff.

If you're talking about the one with Supes and Barda...and Sleez...yeah, that story really disturbed me.

To me, Jurgens is an underrated writer and artist. Speaking of Jurgens, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Booster Gold. Personally, I think he's a great character. Louise Simonson is also another underrated writer.

I wish DC would release Beau Smith's run on Guy's comic in trade form. I would love to read it.

I will draw Mxy some day, he's easily my favorite Superman villain.

What was John Byrne thinking  that day ?

Hell yes . Jurgens did lots of great additions to Supes's world: H.Henshaw, Doomsday, the revamps of older villains etc...
And I love Booster ! I'll have to address that somehow...

Louise Simonson is one of my favorite x-men writers along Fabian Nicieza, Scott lobdell and Peter David, she freaking gave us Apocalypse !

Mxy was hilarious in Superman: The Animated Series. "NUTS NUTS NUTS NUTS!" They chose well when they got Gilbert Gottfried to voice him.

I'm thinking Byrne was on some very wacky weed when he wrote that story.

Cyborg Superman was one of my favorite villains. A true 21st Century villain.

Funny story about Apocalypse, he was created out of necessity. They originally wanted to use the Owl, a Daredevil villain, but it was nixed.

Well I, for one, thank necessity ! Apocalypse is the big kahuna as well as the perfect mutant to illustrate the whole "Born in a world that fears and hates them ."
He is the most tragic character in the whole franchise plain and simple...

Thanks a lot ! The 2 last ones though refer to the Arkham trilogy games (which contain everything I love about the Wattwatt ...) and the DCAU . Post-Hush I did not bother with any long storyline, sticking to the occasional one=shot or mini...
